Veterans Clinic: Resources

This guide will help students locate and use resources for representing veteran clients and their families.

Representing Veterans

Your clients will be seeking assistance with:

  • disputes with predatory lenders and/or for-profit educational institutions over the use of their GI Bill funds;
  • upgrading the characterization of their discharge from the military;
  • appealing Veterans Administration decisions about their disability claims; and
  • other legal issues related to their military service.

Will I be doing the same type of research for the clinic as I did for my Legal Writing & Research class?

Not exactly.

In addition to the resources for searching case law and statutes that you have already mastered, you will be using general and specialized practice materials:

  • Litigation materials
  • Local court rules and forms
  • Arbitration information
  • Client materials
  • Government web sites and forms
  • Investigatory materials
  • Consumer credit materials
