At USD Law:
Pride Law:
- The Purpose of Pride Law is to foster the Law School's LGBTQIA+ community and its allies. Pride Law strengthens the resources the Law School currently provides for LGBTQIA+ law students by advancing the understanding of legal issues affecting the local, state, national, and international LGBTQIA+ community, providing networking opportunities for law students, and embracing every individual's uniqueness and contributions.
Transgender Name and Gender-Marker Change Clinic:
-
The Transgender Name and Gender-Marker Change Clinic serves the needs of transgender and non-binary individuals in California by assisting participants with the process of obtaining name and/or gender-marker changes through the California court system. The Clinic itself exists virtually and is offered on a monthly basis, with pro bono volunteer opportunities for law students and licensed attorneys.
LGBTQ+ & Allies Commons:
- The LGBTQ+ & Allies Commons came out of a legacy of student activism that pushed for greater visibility and support for LGBTQ+ community members. As a student-run space, our work is informed and carried out by student coordinators and volunteers. We seek to create affirming spaces for queer and trans folks while educating the entire campus community about inclusive strategies.
LRC LGBTQ+ Pride Month Resource Guide:
- LGBTQ+ Pride Month is celebrated in June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Uprising that served as a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. Pride Month serves to celebrate the presence and contributions of lesbian, gay, transgender, and queer individuals to history, culture, and society in general. The LGBTQ+ community has fought hard to secure individual rights and in doing so, secured greater equality for themselves and others. This guide contains resources discussing these victories in marriage equality and anti-discrimination laws among other contributions to legal history.
