Critical pedagogy is an educational philosophy that promotes providing students with opportunities to investigate existing hierarchies and systems of power and their role within those structures. Join us for an informal discussion of critical pedagogy and how its principles may be incorporated into law school classes. We recommend watching the video Critical Pedagogy (Explained for Beginners in 4 Minutes), which highlights the major aspects of the philosophy, and reading the article Educating Antiracist Lawyers: The Race and Equal Protection of the Laws Program, which discusses applying critical pedagogy principles in a law school setting
Faculty Learning Circles are hosted by the Legal Research Center in partnership with USD’s Center for Educational Excellence and Law Student Affairs. Lunch will be provided; please RSVP to make sure we have enough food for everyone.
