LGBTQ+ Human Rights in the U.S. and Internationally: A Talk with Victor Madrigal-Borloz

Equaldex is a crowd-sourced knowledge base of LGBT rights by country and region. The International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Intersex Association (ILGA) publishes an annual world report and a map on legislation that criminalizes or protects people on the basis of their sexual orientation or recognizing their relationships.

An interactive database covering 50 years of legal development, on 69 issues, in 23 European countries; looks at marriage, registered partnership, and cohabitation for same-sex and different-sex couples. In addition to this main legal component, the database also includes statistical data and comparative sociological analysis. Created by a team of legal experts led by Kees Waaldijk at Leiden Law School and a team of demographers and sociologists led by Marie Digoix at INED in Paris.

OutRight Action International, formerly known as the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC), provides reports of human rights violations specific to LGBTIQ communities.

ManAboutWorld, a digital magazine for LGBTQ travelers, has an LGBTQ Guide for Travel Safety, which provides advice on coming out while traveling.

Concepts of identity and the way in which LGBTQIA+ individuals are perceived vary from country to country and within regions of the same country. This guide is a compilation of country-specific information and resources for many countries. The information includes links to laws, social attitudes, in-country organizations, new sources, and city guides. While the sources cited in this guide are reputable, students are encouraged to do additional research and consider the questions listed on the last page in order to select the right program and location for them.

The Global Divide on Homosexuality, a report from the Pew Research Center, highlights 39 countries' cultural attitudes toward homosexuality. Country guides, available through the International SOS Assistance App and member portal, include information for LGBTQ travelers and general information on culture and customs.
