Labor Statistics

The Bureau of Labor Statistics home page provides current data on the Consumer Price Index, unemployment, average hourly wages, and more. Other key resources available from BLS include:

  • Current Population Survey: A monthly labor survey of households providing a snapshot of employment/unemployment and other key information about the American workforce.
  • Major Economic Indicators, including employment and unemployment statistics, wages and prices
  • Regional homepages featuring economic indicators on a smaller geographic level (use the drop-down menu on the main page to search by region)

Note that labor statistics may also be found within the Census Bureau products, or within the federal agency that specializes in a particular area (i.e. look also at the Department of Education for specific data on teachers, or Department of Justice for data on police officers).
