Accessing books on ProQuest eBook Central

Finding ebooks

The LRC and Copley Library both purchase content from ProQuest's eBook Central platform. You can use the library catalog to search for content (limit to just ebooks).

Accessing content

ProQuest allows users to download certain ebooks and individual chapters, or read online. Most of the titles that we purchase are limited to single user, so only one person can read at a time (either online or downloaded). The record for a book will indicate what type of usage is allowed for our institution.

Downloading eBooks

To download books for offline access, users will need to install Adobe Digital Editions,  a free program that is different than Adobe Reader. If using a mobile device, the Adobe Digital Editions App is free from the Apple App Store and Google Play. You can use other reader apps as long as they are able to handle the Adobe DRM (Digital Rights Management).

You will not need an Adobe ID if you continue to read your book on the device where you downloaded it, but if you wish to transfer the book from one device to another, you will need to set up a free Adobe ID for the libraries to sync.
