The majority of federal immigration statutes can be found in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), which is codified in Title 8 of the U.S. Code.  The Act was enacted in 1952, has been amended many times since then, and provides the basic structure for the governance of immigration to and citizenship in the U.S.  Public access to codified Act in Title 8 is linked above, and the law can also be found on Lexis and Westlaw.
